One of my Golden Retriever (Tiger) was diagnosed with hip dysplasia (BOTH HIPS), I found it out when he was 6 months old, a very early stage. Tiger didn’t really shown anyof the symptom to me until I sent him for a full body check up included xtray for his hips. cause I always put a lot of concern into each of my furkids especially their growing stage.
I was so upset after I got the news. I went for 2nd opinion and I have done a lot of research about the surgery (triple pelvic osteotomy). Finally I hadadgree the surgery to be done by Dr. Yeoh (he is one of the top veterinary orthopaedic specialist in M’sia).
1st hip surgery was done around age of 7 months old of Tiger, 2nd hip done after 2 months of the 1st surgery.
Estimation surgery cost: RM3000 - RM3500 for 1 hip

I'm a handsome and healthy boy:))
The toughest job was after surgery, I was extra double taking care of Tiger.
After his 1st surgery done, I was sleeping on the couch with him for about 10months.
The reason was, I got to prevent him climbing the stairs up and down, I doesn'twant to take any risk, it might delay his progress of healing. Well~~~ thosedays are past now.....
Tiger, he knows in those days he had been taken care of me. (now he onlystick to me not his daddy…. lolz) I had given so much of time, money,effort.... but I don't mind at all.... I just wish all my furkids stay happyand healthy forever and ever~
THANKS FOR THE IRRESPONSIBLE BREEDER for giving the experience of painful disease of hip dysplasia to TIGER!
I found out my friend's Golden Retriever (we got it from the same pet shop -name: Petsmore ) also diagnosed the same disease!!!
I have checked both of their cert!! they got same ancestors!!!
I SWEAR I WILL NEVER EVER BUY ANYMORE DOGS AGAIN!! I WOULD RATHER ADOPT ONE, and I DID!
Happy that Tiger is well now. More happy that you will never ever buy from a pet shop anymore. When you adopt you save 2 lives. The one you adopted and the one that's taking it's place. Please make your story known to as many people as you can about your experience so that more people will not buy pets from pet shops....
ReplyDeleteAlthough I'm sorry for your troubles, and even sorrier for Tiger and his litter mates, I am very happy to read this post. By sharing your story you are helping promote adoption over breeding and turning people away from unethical pet shops. Kudos to you!

Glad to know your tiger is doing well now.
ReplyDeleteMy GR puppy also having the same problem. It has been 9 months and the shop still finding excuses to delay the MKA Cert.
So u have spent around 7k for tiger's surgery? I am planning to send mine too.. but just.. too costly for me :(
